When people say "polymer clay," they often imagine modeling clay. The kind we used in primary school, a bit sticky, with a strong smell.
That's not quite it.
What it really is
Polymer clay is a synthetic, PVC-based clay. It's worked by hand—just like traditional clay—but it's baked in an oven at a low temperature, around 110-130°C. No pottery kiln, no industrial equipment. A domestic oven is sufficient.
What makes it completely different from traditional clay: once baked, polymer clay is solid, lightweight, and absolutely non-porous. It's water-resistant, doesn't deform, and doesn't crumble.
Why VANIALA chose it

First, lightness. A polymer clay earring weighs a fraction of what the same piece would weigh in resin or metal. For earrings worn all day, this is essential—the ear doesn't pull, comfort is real.

Finally, the colors. Polymer clay absorbs pigment exceptionally well. The shades are deep, consistent, and don't fade over time. This is what allows Aura Solstice to be truly ochre, and Aura Coquelicot to be truly red.
And durability?
This is often the first question. Baked polymer clay is solid—it resists daily bumps and knocks. It's water-resistant. It doesn't fade in the sun.
The only precaution: avoid bending or twisting it with force. It's not metal—it can break under intense pressure. But under normal wearing conditions, a well-baked piece lasts for years.
A serious material
Polymer clay is used by artisans and designers worldwide. It has its place in jewelry worn during Fashion Weeks, in designer boutiques, and in capsule collections of premium brands.
